The third installment of Tech Talk was a success.
About 40 people came to the event held at the Old Church to hear a couple of speakers discuss their latest innovations.
Jim Dewar of North Central Heating spoke about how smart design and control systems can turn any home into a “smart home”. His talk focused mainly on how improving how heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems communicate with their environment and one another can greatly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of themselves in our homes. He spoke of options available today for the average consumer as well future ideas that are in development.
Wil LaFountain of Helix Electronics spoke about his communications systems which are deployed in very rugged terrain make it possible for information to get from the source to where people need it to make decisions. Radio and satellite towers which are portable have increased productivity in the mineral exploration sector as well as other natural resource sectors. His latest project has him working with another local innovative venture, Hy-Tech Diamond Drilling, on new circuit board designs for their latest innovations.
