Tired of the same old hair band with the same old charm on it? How about one that is interchangeable?
Tired of the same old coffee mug? How about one you can change the design on as often as you like?
Tired of the same old shape of your tie? How about one shaped like an elephant or anything else you could think of?
These were some of the ideas that came from Sondra Contumelias’s grade 5/6 class at Twain Sullivan Elementary school. A semester long project came to an end with a “Dragon’s Den” pitch competition in front of local business owners and managers. Cash prizes were awarded to the top 3 ideas based on market research, value proposition, and financial viability.
Ms. Contumelias hopes to continue the program next year after this year’s successful endeavour. “The kids really got to experience what it takes to bring something to market and also work on their public speaking. These are real skills they will need going forward.” Contumelias said.
